Man skin care
What is the key to good looks?
Healthy skin is essential to a good looking face. It is not easy to achieve nor is it easy to maintain. But it is the most important thing you can ever do for your physical self.
I’m a makeup artist and I would like to share with all the men out there some simple steps to a great looking skin.

Step 1: You must always keep your face clean.
Men usually have oilier skin than woman and they have larger pores too. Thus your face may attract more bacteria and is more prone to acnes. I recommend that you invest in a good tub of face wash as deep cleaning is essential to keep you pores clear and skin healthy. The cleansing products would be ideal if it is chemical free.
I personally recommend the st lves deep cleansing clay mask. I truly enjoy the tingling after feeling from this product. A good gentle scrub would be good for your skin as it will smooth out the surface and remove dead cells too. Thus the scrub should be strong without being damaging to your skin. A good scrub is supposed to invigorate you and not hurt you instead. Do avoid scrubs that contain rough elements like ground bits of nuts or seed extracts. They may be too harsh on your delicate skin.
For a good supple skin, moisturizing is necessary. Again, moisturise your facial skin only when you need it. Learn to listen to your body and experience the different signals that your body might be trying to convey to you. Do moisturise your skin in accordance to your needs and climatic needs. Do remember to protect your neck too.
If a normal moisturising regime is not sufficient. Do give yourself a vitamin E facial treatment. I use vitamin E capsules that can be brought from ‘The body shop’. You break open the capsule and apply the oil directly to your skin and onto the under eye area. This part of your face tends to age more quickly than the rest as it does not produce oil of its own.
Step 2: Keep it toned
as man usually prefer the outdoors more than women. Your skin is more susceptible to environmental debris and pollutants. The toner helps to give your skin a thorough cleansing after your usual face wash. It also helps to firm up your skin, reduces your pore size and help to avoid ingrown hairs.
Step 3: Treat your skin.
There is all type of products available to suit your unique needs and preferences. If you feel that facial foams are too oily for your skin, there is always the cleansing gel. And moisturisers also come in many forms such as lotion and cream potions. There is a product to suit your skin needs or skin type in every climatic condition. Thus it is important to know your skin’s need before you go out to purchase your skin food.
All types of skin would glow with a good exfoliation. This is the removal of dead skin cells that may form on a daily basis. I find that AHA is too harsh on my skin. But there is much other type of skin peel products out there for you to choose from.
After shaving, do remember to use moisturising products that does not contain alcohol, as it can irritate your skin and have a stinging sensation. For men with greasy skin, do carry a handy pack of blot papers with you, this would reduce the chances of an outbreak. Don't forget about your lips. Find a balm that has an SPF of at least 15 in it.
Step 4: Protects your skin
Healthy skin makes you look younger than your actual age.
Here are some pointers to a good looking skin.
• Avoid over exposure to the sun.
Sun damage leads to hyperpigmentation (brown spots) which can develop into serious skin disease, the skin cancer. Excessive exposure can also exaggerate and thicken fine lines. Use an SPF 15 or higher on all exposed skin, especially on your face.
• Stay in shape.
Exercise promotes capillary functioning which can decrease premature aging. It also increases oxygen to the tissues which keeps skin looking young.
• Eat right.
Keep vitamins such as C and E in your diet regimen.
• Everything in moderation.
Too much of anything is never a good idea. Stay away from excessive alcohol, smoking, fatigue and stress. Not only can these factors lead to premature aging; they also decrease facial circulation making you look older.
