The Eyeliner

An eyeliner pencil is used to shape and define your eyes, making it appear larger and more prominent. Different techniques used to apply your eye liner will create different types of look for different occasions or the 'feel' that you desire.
As eye liners can be differentiated by its texture, there are a few types on the market with different texture to choose from. You can use the right texture to smudge a dark smokey eye look or to clearly define your eyes.
There 4 types of eye liners in the market. Firstly, there is the liquid eye liner. Liquid eye liner gives the sharpest look and you can draw the most precise line on your eyelids with it. Liquid eye liner comes in several shades of colour in a bottle with a brush for application. This form of eye liner is better left to the professionals.
Secondly, the harder powder-based eye pencil also draws a clean and distinct line over the eyelids and is available in many different shades. One observation and a limitation is that it does not glide on so easily.
Thirdly, there is also the wax-based eye liner pencil which glides on easily. This is good for creating the smokey eye look. This type of pencil comes in a greater array of colours.
Fourthly, you have the option of the Kohl eye liner. Kohl eye liner has the softest powder texture and is available in dark matte shades. Kohl is used to softly define the eye contour with a dark colour. This product may come in several forms - as a pencil, pressed powder, or loose powder.
Fifthly and less commonly, there is the gel eye liner. The gel eye liner is a softer gel-filled liner that can be easily applied with an eyeliner brush. It allows for a more precise application and is much softer than the Kohl eye liner. It is used most optimally when combined with the creamy/powder eye shadow.
