Bridal Make Up & Ideas

Beautiful Bride

Bridal Make Up: Take into consideration the following when deciding on your make up and hair for the day:

1) Time of day the ceremony is taking place: Night-time weddings are obviously more formal and warrant a more sophisticated bridal make up look. Daytime weddings tend to be more natural.

2) Indoors or outdoors: Outside lighting is strong and so the make up needs to be soft and natural. Also outdoor weddings tend to be less formal.

3) The lighting: Different lighting may have different effect on bridal make up. Night-time lighting tends to show less and so a stronger make up is needed. Day lighting is more natural. Candle light shows more gold on the skin and so shimmer and gloss can be utilized to soften the face. For the reception, how is the lighting like? Florescent lighting tends to wash out the face and give things a green tone.

4) The colour of your dress: Ivory and off-white dresses tend to make the skin look softer and therefore allow a more glamorous make up. White colour tends to look stronger and washes out most faces. It is important that the face is well blended so as to not look stark but soft color is needed.

5) The neckline of your dress, the length & the sleeves: The stronger the neckline, the more sophisticated the hair and makeup should be. For example, a neckline that cuts deep and is off the shoulders needs to have the hair up so that the line of the neck and shoulders is shown off. The shorter the dress, the more simple the hair and makeup should be. Also, the more simple the dress, the more simple the hair and makeup.

6) You are creating an entire picture: Do not put on the ornate dress and heels and then wear your hair and make up like you would do when you have your jeans on. Don't sell yourself short on such a memorable day.

7) Do not be afraid to wear a red lip stick: Remember that there are different reds for different skins.

8) Do not over-do your bridal make up: One feature of the face should be emphasized at a time. If you do the red lip and the super made-up eyes, you will look like you have too much make up on.

9) Facials: Unless you have facials on a regular basis, DO NOT have one the week before your wedding. They can attract impurities to the surface and you would not want to have a break out on the week of your big day. Also, do not make any major changes in skin care the few weeks prior for the same reason.

10) Time of the Month: Sounds overboard but if at all possible, try not to set your wedding date during 'that time of the month' for girls.

11) If you get a breakout, do not pick at it: Do not do anything that can irritate, redden or enlarge the problem. This will make your bridal make up so much harder to perfect. Use pure Aloe Vera to treat and heal any bumps or breakouts. Aloe Vera is a wonderful healer.

12) Perfect Looking Skin: The most important element to your wedding bridal make up, besides waterproof mascara, is to achieve the perfect looking complexion. Learn how to get coverage without looking mask-like. And make sure that your foundation matches your skin exactly.

13) Foundation is a must: Unless your skin is absolutely perfect and flawless, it is a good idea to have some foundation on your big day, even if you don't wear one usually.

14) Removing Mascara: When you purchase your waterproof mascara, make sure that you pick up an eye make up remover that also takes off waterproof mascara. You do not want to be stuck in Aruba with a week's old mascara that you cannot get off, or ripping off half your lashes trying to do so.

15) Remember, you want to look like yourself: You want your other half to recognize you when you walk down the aisle. And you also want to look and feel very beautiful. Pamper, priss, and preen, it is your day.

16) Timeless Bridal Photos: In 20 years down the track, that hot pink lipstick and big hoop earrings will date your wedding photos! Choose your bridal make up and peripherals carefully. You want to look as classic as possible so that your photo memories are timeless.
